In order to change the firmware manually,
you must first download the above firmware file and save it to a local
disk. LynxNets also support remote update. To
get firmware updates please call tech support with the MAC address of
unit. If your unit has reached our update server, we can upgrade
it remotely. If not, well......., connect a serial cable to a laptop or a
PC.
Locate the RS-232 connector on the front panel
of the system.
Plug the RS-232 programming cable in it.
Connect this cable to a COM port in the PC or
laptop.
Start the HyperTerm program:
This can be located in:
Start->Programs-Accessories->Communications->HyperTerminal

1) Hyper Term will bring up
a dialog box asking you to name this session.
Type in “LynxNet”, select any icon, and press OK.

2) Hyper Term will then ask
which COM port you plugged the cable in.
(Typically COM1 or COM2).
Select the port and click OK.
Hyper Term will next ask you to set the COM port
settings.
Set
these to the following:
Speed:
57,600
Data Bits:
8
Parity:
None
Stop Bits:
1
Flow Control: None
The Hyper Term program will present you with a blank
screen that lets you view the LynxNet activity and give it commands.
Commands work at 9600 Baud. This setup, at 57,600
Baud, is for loading firmware only.
Step 1: At
this point you need to Press and hold down the space bar, and then
apply power to the LynxNet.
The LynxNet will give
you a menu.
Press ? for Help
Press "L" to
start the loader.
Click
"Transfer" in the Hyperterm menu.

Browse to the
downloaded Hex file and click Open.
Select the Protocol
"Xmodem".
Press
Send. The system will give you a running tally of the
number of bytes transferred.
When finished, restart
the LynxNet.
